National reactions: Eagles top Bills but penalties play a part
The Philadelphia Eagles hung around with the Buffalo Bills just enough to pull off a stunning overtime victory in Week 12. The final score was 37-34.
There were incredible moments for both teams once the game got going. The ending was one was to remember (for Philly).
The Eagles connected on a 59-yard field goal to force overtime via the foot of kicker Jake Elliott. Just when you thought that was wild enough, overtime then happened.
The Bills did their best to punch in a game-winning touchdown but fell just shot. Settling for the field goal proved costly as the Eagles got a touchdown run from quarterback Jalen Hurts shortly after a pass from Bill quarterback Josh Allen fell incomplete in the end zone.
But throughout all that, the penalties played a huge part. Many went against Buffalo (11) and very few against Philadelphia (4). As much as the impressive win, the flags caught attention, too.
The national media reactions to the game tell that story, and a roundup of those can be found below:

Jalen Carter took 3 points off the board for the Bills when he blocked this FG attempt.
Turned out to be pretty, pretty, pretty important points.#Eaglespic.twitter.com/3h6vZyBI3e

The Bills just became the 4th team ever to:
+ win the turnover battle
+ have 500 total yards
+ out-gain the opponent by 127and still lose.
What a win by the Eagles.

What beef does Sean Hochuli's crew have against the Bills?

Josh Allen just got horse-collared directly in front of the ref and the end result of the play was an intentional grounding 🤷♂️

Horse Collar Penalties
If the quarterback is in the pocket, there cannot be a penalty for a horse collar tackle. However, once he leaves the pocket, he is offered that protection.Josh Allen was out of the pocket, so there should have been a foul on this play in #BUFvsPHI for an…

That's it. The Eagles are going to come back and win another game they don't deserve to win. Bills had 'em, let 'em off the hook. Oh, well.

Talents of Josh Allen, again, wasted by his head coach. Brutal L for the Bills.

Josh Allen threw for 339 yards and 2 TDs, while rushing for 81 and another 2 TDs. Scored 34 points. They lost.
3 times this year Josh Allen has scored to give the Bills a lead with under 2 minutes left and they’ve gone onto lose. It all comes down to one person pic.twitter.com/QqLF22F2ly

I still can't believe the Bills kneeled out the clock.
I get it's only 20 seconds, but you have a timeout and Josh Allen. That's flat-out malpractice. https://t.co/5lenKKguHv

The #Bills are the 40th team since the 1970 Merger to have 500 yards, 10 third down conversions and a positive turnover margin in a game.
They are the first team to lose in that scenario. Teams were 39-0 entering today, per @ESPNStatsInfo
