National champs LSU women's basketball to tip off 2023-34 season vs. Colorado in Las Vegas

Reigning national champion LSU women's basketball will tip off its path to a possible repeat in Sin City.

The Tigers will face off against Colorado on Nov. 6 in the Hall of Fame Series as part of a four-game event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

LSU and the Buffaloes headline the quartet of games which also feature matchups USC-Ohio State on the women's side as well as a pair of men's basketball contests with Georgia-Oregon as well as USC-Kansas State.

The announcement marks one of the first official nonconference dates filled for Kim Mulkey and her team for the upcoming season. After some criticism regarding LSU's nonconference schedule last season, Colorado gives the Tigers a tough opponent to open next season.

For the better part of the last couple of seasons, the Buffs have been a top 25 program and are expected to open the 2023-24 season nationally ranked as they're coming off a Sweet 16, where it fell to eventual national runner-up Iowa.

Jaylyn Sherrod and Quay Miller, who both earned All-Pac 12 recognition last season, return to lead one of the more experienced teams in their conference at more than 120 combined starts within the group.

LSU will likely be ranked preseason No. 1 as national championship game MVP Angel Reese is back as well as Flau'jae Johnson. Star guard Hailey Van Lith and All-American forward Aneesah Morrow have transferred in to bolster the Tigers' already stout roster.
