Nashville SC signs veteran defender Brent Kallman through 2024

Nashville SC has signed defender Brent Kallman to a one-year contract.

Kallman, 33, was a trialist with Nashville during the preseason. He spent the last seven seasons with Minnesota United FC.

“Brent brings a veteran presence as an outstanding one-v-one defender in the air and on the ground,” said Nashville SC general manager Mike Jacobs in the club’s release. “He has settled into our group on and off the field in preseason, and we feel fortunate to be able to add him into our club.”

A 6-foot-2, 190-pound center back, Kallman had been with Minnesota United since the club’s days as a North American Soccer League in 2013. He appeared in 114 MLS games for the Loons with 92 starts and scored six goals, though he only saw 199 minutes in seven appearances last season.

Kallman reinforces one of the strongest positions on Nashville’s roster. Center backs Walker Zimmerman, Lukas MacNaughton and Jack Maher led a Nashville defense that gave up 32 goals in 2023, tied for the fewest in Major League Soccer.
