End of second period: Predators 4, Oilers 2

A ton of action midway through the second period.

Ryan O'Reilly scores early in the period, fighting for position in front of the net, slips in the puck on a rebound off goalie Jack Campbell's toe for a 2-1 lead.

The Predators, on a power play because of Evander Kane's high-sticking penalty, take a 3-1 lead. O'Reilly has his second goal of the game on a back-door play.

The Oilers make it 3-2 on a power play, started by Alexandre Carrier's holding penalty. Edmonton keeps the puck in the zone the entire time. Predators defenseman Jeremy Lauzon is a monster, blocking three shots. Zach Hyman scores. Lauzon limps off the ice and down the tunnel to the locker room.

True to hockey player toughness, he's back on the bench not long after.

The Predators take a 4-2 lead with Tommy Novak's goal at 13:55.

End of first period: Predators 1, Oilers 1

Filip Forsberg ties it up less than a minute later with a wraparound that caught Oilers goalie Jack Campbell still on the other post.

Darnell Nurse scores on a power play to give the Oilers the 1-0 lead.

Defenseman Ryan McDonagh, who is day-to-day with a lower-body injury, took a warm-up but did not play. Marc Del Gaizo was called up from AHL Milwaukee and got to take a "hot lap" in his NHL debut.
