Nashville area's top high school girls soccer players entering 2023 TSSAA season

Two of the state's five girls soccer champions came from the Nashville area last season, when Merrol Hyde and Page won the Class A title and 2A titles, respectively. Both teams will look to defend their championships as the Tennessee high school girls soccer season begins this month.

Here are the Nashville area's top players to watch this fall.

Emma Pizzi, Brentwood, Jr: The midfielder had three goals and two assists for the Lady Bruins.

Kassy Uzelman, Centennial, So: Uzelman made an impact as a freshman in midfield before an injury cut last season short. She's member of the Tennessee Soccer Club 2008 ECNL team and competed at ECNL Nationals this summer.

Julia Ann Hamilton, Central Magnet, Jr. The midfielder returns after a Class aA all-state performance as a sophomore.

Livi Langan, CPA, Fr: Langan played varsity as an eighth-grader last year. Her nine goals led the team and she added five assists while earning the team's offensive MVP award.

Rebekah Allen, Clarksville, Jr: Allen was an All District 13-3A midfielder last season and a former district MVP (2021). She was named TSWA All State with 15 goals and 14 assists.

Sophie Williams, Culleoka, Jr: Williams scored 29 goals with 10 assists at the striker position. She's the school's career leading scorer (60 goals) and was named All District 10-A, district MVP and all-state while guiding her team to the program's first state tournament.

Rachel Brewer, Dickson County, Sr: The forward had 25 goals to lead the Lady Cougars and was selected to the All District 14-AAA team

Jackie Reding, Fairview, Jr: The midfielder had 14 goals and 14 assists while earning All District 12-AA honors and was named district tournament MVP.

Camryn Hunnell, Fairview, Jr: Hunnell had 12 goals and seven assists at forward and was named all-district.

Baylee Kingrey, Gallatin, Sr: Kingrey was named All-District 9-AAA as a goalie and earned all-state honors. She led the Green Wave to their first state tournament.

Helen Ghertner, Harpeth Hall, Jr: The centerback was a key part of her team's defense and was named All Division II-AA Middle Region as a sophomore.

Serenity Safeeullah, Hillsboro, Jr: The forward was named District 10-AAA offensive MVP, all-district and all-tournament with 10 goals and five assists.

Silvia Shirey, Hume-Fogg, Jr: Shirey played both forward and dropped back to midfield as a sophomore and scored 23 goals with three assists and was named all-state.

Taryn Childers, Livingston Academy, Jr: Childers was named to the Tennessean All-Midstate second team as a forward and was among the state's top offensive standouts in 2022 with 51 goals and 12 assists.

Garren Simons, M.L. King, Sr: Simons was named District 10-AA Goalkeeper of the Year and overall district MVP. She represented NUSA at USYS Nationals this summer.

Bella Henderson, Merrol Hyde, Sr. Henderson was named all-state as a defender while guiding Merrol Hyde to a 21-2-1 record and the Class A state championship.

Sydnie DuCharme, Nashville Christian, Fr: DuCharme had eight goals and 12 assists as a starting eighth-rader.

Maddie Padelski, Nolensville, Jr: Padelski was named all-state and to The Tennessean's All-Midstate first team. She was The Tennessean's Girls Player of the Year for 2022 after scoring 29 goals and seven assists as a sophomore.

Aireona Duenez, Oakland, Sr: The MTSU commit returns after missing half of her junior season because of an injury after scoring two goals and two assists at midfield.

Leah Krugh, Oakland, Jr: The 2021 District 8-AAA offensive player of the year had 16 goals, 17 assists and was named all-district last season.

Reagan Vaughn, Page, So: Vaughn scored one of Page's three goals in a 3-0 win over Central Magnet in the AA state title game last fall, Page's second straight state crown. She had 20 goals and five assists last season.

Katie Shea Collins, Pope John Paul II, Sr: Collins is the program's all-time scoring leader (62) and had 30 last season. A South Carolina commit, she was named Division II-AA Middle Region MVP and Tennessean first team All-Midstate.

Lexi Grundler, Ravenwood, Sr: The Lady Raptors goalie and Michigan State commit was named second-team All-Midstate and All-District 11-AAA after recording 36 saves and five shutouts.

Abigail Dibble, Ravenwood, Sr: The midfielder was all-district with six goals and eight assists.

Kristen DeSantis, Rossview, Sr: The Lady Hawks forward finished second in Montgomery County with 30 goals and had 19 assists. She earned All-District 13-AAA.

Eva Greenwald, Rossview Jr: Greenwald scored 25 goals and had 16 assists and earned Region 7-AAA all-tournament honors.

Makai King, Siegel, So: The forward was named District 8-AAA freshman of the year after collecting 17 goals and five assists.

Ayden Wood, Station Camp, Jr: The forward had 20 goals and 10 assists and was named District 9-AAA Offensive MVP and first-team All-Midstate.

Maddie York, Valor Prep, Jr. York was a key member of Valor Prep's defense as a center back and helped the Lady Wildcats to a 11-2-3 record and a Class AA sectional appearance.

Madison Bennett, West Creek, Sr: The forward had a school-record 48 goals and four assists. She also broke school record for career goals (78) and was named District 13-AAA offensive player of the year.
