Here are the Nashville area high school volleyball stars to watch in 2023 TSSAA season

With Nashville area high school volleyball teams beginning the regular season this week, here's a look at the top players to watch in 2023:

Julianna Santiago, BGA, Sr.: The Tennessee commitment 284 digs and 53 aces to lead the Lady Wildcats to the DII-A state title match.

Daisy Oatsvall, Brentwood, So.: Oatsvall had 288 kills and 101 blocks as a freshman.

Hannah Tate, Brentwood, Sr.: The libero led the team with 562 digs and added 102 assists last season.

Noella Obi, Central Magnet, Sr.: The Mississippi State commitment helped lead the Tigers to the AA state tourney with 254 kills, 33 aces and 20 blocks.

Mally Morrell, CPA, So.: Morrell led the team with 406 digs from the libero position as a freshman.

Meah Thompson, Eagleville, Jr.: The versatile all-state hitter and six-rotation player had 219 kills, 349 digs and 57 aces.

Audrey Tribble, Eagleville, Sr.: The all-state setter had more than 1,000 assists to earn district MVP honors. She led the Lady Eagles to the Class A state tournament.

Katie Pennington, East Robertson, Jr.: Pennington had 414 kills to lead East Robertson to the Class A sectional.

Emily Holmes, Father Ryan, Sr.: The all-state outside hitter had 262 kills, 106 digs and 23 aces.

McKay McGuiness, Father Ryan, Sr.: The Lady Irish setter had 380 assists, 180 digs, 42 aces and 33 kills.

Kailey Nicholson, Father Ryan, Sr.: The outside hitter, who was a key to the 2021 state title, is back after a 2022 season-ending injury.

Kayla Dunlap, Franklin, Jr.: The middle blocker and Vanderbilt commitment had 164 kills and 58 assists last season.

Dylann Gardner, Franklin, Sr.: The outside hitter and North Alabama commitment had 291 kills last season.

Maddie Pennington, Goodpasture, Jr.: Pennington played libero (384 digs) on last year's DII-A state title squad, but will be moving to setter this season.

Sarah Purkey, Goodpasture, Sr.: The middle blocker is the most experienced returnee from last year's DII-A state title squad. She had 141 kills and 101 blocks last season.

Paige Griner, Green Hill, Sr.: The outside hitter had a team-leading 326 kills to go with 253 digs and 78 aces.

Morgan Jackson, Harpeth, Sr.: The all-district and all-region middle hitter had 228 kills, 37 blocks, 196 digs and 34 aces in leading Harpeth to the Class A sectional.

Landry Boswell, Harpeth Hall, So.: The 5-10 St. Mary's transfer was an all-region performer as a middle blocker but can also play outside hitter.

Emaline Cash, Harpeth Hall, Jr.: The 6-2 middle blocker averaged 4.5 kills and two blocks per match.

Ruby Walton, Lipscomb Academy, Jr.: The middle blocker/outside hitter had a team-leading 227 kills and 39 blocks to go with 32 aces.

Ally Weathers, Loretto, Jr.: The all-state middle blocker had 429 kills, 63 blocks, 463 digs, 99 assists and 90 aces to lead Loretto to the Class A state title match.

Haley Hudson, MTCS, Sr.: The all-state setter broke a school record with 1,073 assists, adding 308 digs and 68 aces in leading the Lady Cougars to third in the state.

Lily Watson, MTCS, Sr.: The all-state middle hitter had 407 kills and 33 blocks in leading the Lady Cougars to the state's final three.

Maggie Allred, Nolensville, Sr.: The 5-foot-11 all-state middle blocker and FAU commitment had 207 kills and 119 blocks last season.

Kaira Knox, Nolensville, Jr.: The all-state outside hitter and Western Kentucky commitment had 360 kills, 81 blocks, 44 aces and 196 digs.

Taylor Baron, Oakland, Sr.: The libero led the Lady Patriots to the AAA sectional with 347 digs, 29 aces and 17 assists.

Elisa Fries, Oakland, Sr.: The versatile hitter had 211 kills, 50 aces, 151 assists, 15 blocks and 168 digs in leading Oakland to the AAA sectional.

Tennyson Gorman, Page, Sr.: The Furman commitment had 254 kills, 51 blocks and 50 aces last season.

McKenna Shotwell, Providence Christian, Sr.: The outside hitter is expected to surpass 1,000 kills for her career this season.

Madison Lansdown, Siegel, Sr.: The Belmont commitment had 144 kills, 221 digs, 53 assists and 51 aces last season.

Cate Schroer, Siegel, Sr.: The versatile outside hitter and Freed-Hardiman commitment had 347 kills, 255 assists, 160 digs and 80 aces.

Abby Davis, Station Camp, Sr.: Davis had 440 assists, 245 digs, 93 kills and 45 aces in leading the Lady Bison to the AAA sectional.

Cami Klein, Station Camp, Sr.: The FAU commitment had 307 kills, 44 aces and 300 digs last season.

Alex Chortyk, Summit, Sr.: The outside hitter/middle hitter was a key in leading the Spartans to the region semifinals last season.
