Myles Turner injures finger, shoots free throws left-handed, leaves game

INDIANAPOLIS -- Pacers center Myles Turner injured his right index finger Monday night when fouled attempting a dunk late in the second quarter against the Brooklyn Nets.

He went to the locker room to have the finger put back in place, and returned to shoot two free throws left-handed (making one). The Pacers ruled him out for the second half.

Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said in his post-game press conference following the Pacers' 133-111 win over the Nets that x-rays for a fracture were negative and that Turner had suffered a dislocation. He said it was too early to tell if Turner would miss any further time with the injury.

Pictures on social media showed Turner's finger going crooked at the knuckle as he jumped up and down in pain. A timeout allowed him to go to the locker room and get it straightened out, but he went back there after shooting the free throws.

Turner scored nine points on 3 of 5 shooting in the first half, hitting 2 of 4 3-pointers. He also grabbed six rebounds and blocked five shots, adding to his franchise career record.

Turner is averaging 16.8 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game this season and is shooting 51.8% from the floor, 35.1% from 3-point range and 77.3% from the free throw line.

Turner posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account after the game that he'd be willing to trade his rarest Lego set for a right index finger.
