Moving Day: Latest ETN Basketball Power Rankings feature big changes in Class 4A boys

There are just a few weeks left in the high school basketball regular season as teams are battling for region titles and playoff seeds.

The girls teams have settled into familiar roles in each class, but there were numerous changes in the District 10 boys basketball rankings. One of the big movers is Grove City as the Eagles started the season in the top spot, struggled with a tough schedule and have caught fire to get back to the top spot in Class 4A.

Boys basketball

Class 1A

1. Farrell (12-4) Previous: 1 – The Steelers are in control of Region 1.

2. Rocky Grove (11-6) Prv: 2 – The Orioles' only loss in a few weeks is to Farrell.

3. Cochranton (6-9) Prv: 3 – The Cardinals are battling in a 2A-heavy region.

Class 2A

1. Mercer (14-3) Prv: 1 – The Mustangs with another three-win week.

2. Lakeview (13-5) Prv: 3 – The Sailors keep rolling with three more wins.

3. Saegertown (12-5) Prv: 4 – The Panthers are heating up and in first place.

4. Cambridge Springs (10-5) Prv: 5 – The Blue Devils are in the thick of the Region 3 race.

5. Eisenhower (13-3) Prv: 2 – The Knights fall back after a tough loss to Cambridge Springs.

Class 3A

1. Franklin (13-4) Prv: 1 – The Knights are on fire with three more wins.

2. Girard (16-1) Prv: 3 – The YellowJackets have won eight in a row.

3. Oil City (13-4) Prv: 2 – The Oilers' only loss this past week was a close one to No. 1 Franklin.

4. Mercyhurst Prep (9-7) Prv: 5 – The Lakers are putting things together.

5. Greenville (8-9) Prv: 4 – The Trojans have a deceiving record in a 4A-heavy region.

Class 4A

1. Grove City (10-7) Prv: 2 – The Eagles have won seven in a row.

2. Warren (13-3) Prv: 1 – The Dragons' only loss this week was to 3A Oil City.

3. Hickory (11-5) Prv: 4 – The Hornets won twice this week including a big win over rival Sharon.

4. Sharon (14-2) Prv: 3 – The Tigers fell to Hickory this past week to drop a spot.

5. Harbor Creek (9-8) Prv: NR – The Huskies had a big week including a win over General McLane.

Dropped out: General McLane

Class 5A-6A

1. Erie High (6A) (11-4) Prv: 1 – The Royals earned a big win at McDowell to take control of Region 7.

2. Cathedral Prep (5A) (8-9) Prv: 2 – The Ramblers won five in a row before losing to Erie High.

3. McDowell (6A) (12-3) Prv: 3 – The Trojans lost in overtime to Erie High.

Girls basketball

Class 1A-2A

1. Kennedy Catholic (2A) (11-3) Prv: 1 – The Golden Eagles continue to roll with a few more wins.

2. West Middlesex (2A) (14-3) Prv: 2 – The Big Reds with two big region wins this week.

3. Lakeview (2A) (9-8) Prv: 3 – The Sailors win two more games this week.

4. Maplewood (2A) (15-3) Prv: 4 – The Tigers are in control of Region 2.

5. Mercer (2A) (10-6) Prv: 5 – The Mustangs with two tough losses to top four teams.

Class 3A

1. Mercyhurst Prep (15-2) Prv: 1 – The Lakers won three more games this week.

2. Wilmington (13-4) Prv: 2 – The Greyhounds are heating up.

3. Northwestern (14-3) Prv: 3 – The Wildcats are just one game back in Region 3.

4. North East (11-6) Prv: 4 – The 'Pickers' only loss this week was to Northwestern.

5. Seneca (11-6) Prv: 5 – The Bobcats' only loss this week was to Mercyhurst Prep.

Class 4A-6A

1. Cathedral Prep (5A) (12-2) Prv: 1 – The Ramblers keep dominating D-10 opponents.

2. Warren (4A) (12-4) Prv: 2 – The Dragons went 3-0 this past week.

3. Fairview (4A) (13-5) Prv: 3 – The Tigers' only loss this week was to Prep.

4. Erie High (6A) (13-5) Prv: 4 – The Royals picked up a big win over McDowell this week.

5. Harbor Creek (4A) (10-6) Prv: 5 – The Huskies' only loss this week was to Fairview.
