Morton advances to IHSA volleyball state finals for first time in a generation
KANKAKEE — Morton will play in the Class 3A volleyball state finals.
The Potters beat New Lenox Providence Catholic in straight sets, 25-21, 25-17 on Friday night at the Class 3A Kankakee Supersectional.
In ending a 17-year state finals drought, Morton (30-7) gets a chance to take home the program's first state trophy since a 1981 Class AA fourth-place finish.

The Potters play either Wheaton St. Francis or Belvidere North at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the 3A state semifinals at CEFCU Arena on the Illinois State University campus.
NLPC (27-13) held a 20-18 lead in the opening set before Morton went on a six-point run to take the set. To close out the match, the Potters jumped ahead by six points before holding on to their seventh win in a row.
