Morris/Sussex wrestlers to watch at the upper weights during the 2023-24 season
With the wrestling season getting started later this week, it's time to spotlight the top wrestlers in Morris and Sussex counties.
The third and final part of our three-day series looks at the top upper-weights.
Tyler Bienus
Mount Olive senior
The Bucknell commit is a two-time district champion and last season’s region runner-up. He finished seventh in the state last March at 175 pounds.
Tommy Borgia
West Morris sophomore
Borgia qualified for the state tournament as a freshman at 215 pounds. He finished second in District 11.

Lou Cerchio
Delbarton senior
Among the nation’s top wrestlers, the three-time state placewinner captured his first NJSIAA title last March at 165 pounds and went 39-0. Cerchio has a loaded resume that includes Beast of the East and Fargo National titles.
Caitlin Hart
Vernon junior
The two-time state medalist added a region title and a third-place finish in Atlantic City last season at 185 pounds.
Vincenzo LaValle
Hanover Park junior
LaValle looks to take it a step further this season after turning in back-to-back third-place finishes in the state tournament at 190 pounds. A two-time Morris County Tournament, district and region champion, LaValle went 36-4 last winter.

Vincent Lee
Delbarton senior
The Duke commit is a two-time state qualifier and two-time district champion. He won three matches in last season’s state tournament and won 32 matches last season against a loaded schedule.
Connor Martin
Delbarton senior
The anchor at the bottom of the Green Wave’s loaded lineup, Martin is a returning state qualifier and Morris County Tournament champion.
