Monte Harrison, former MLB player and Arkansas WR, jokes about age: 'Do not call me old'

If you were thrown off when former Major League Baseball player Monte Harrison committed to Sam Pittman and Arkansas football, you weren't the only one.

After all, Harrison — who is set to join the Razorback's roster as a walk-on wide receiver — is 28 years old.

On Friday, the newest Arkansas wide receiver had some words for those who doubted him becoming a college football player at this point of his career. He posted a quick teaser video for a sit-down interview with Hogs+, Arkansas's official streaming and content network, on X (formerly known as Twitter):

"What's up guys, my name is Monte Harrison. Wide Receiver, former MLB outfielder. First thing I'm going to say, I'm so excited to get to Fayetteville and get to Arkansas," Harrison said. "Down here with (Hogs+ host) Tera (Talmadge) and some of the film crew from Hogs+.

"I'm ready to get started, but one thing I actually want to say is, do not call me old: I'm just a little bit mature for my age, that's all."

According to Talmadge, the interview with Harrison will be released at a later date.

Harrison, who was ranked as a three-star recruit in 2014 according to his 247Sports Composite rankings, did not play college football out of high school, despite committing to play at Nebraska. He instead was taken in the second round of the MLB draft that year by the Milwaukee Brewers. He made his MLB debut with the Miami Marlins in 2020, as he was packaged in the Christian Yelich trade that sent Yelich to the Brewers in 2018.

Following two seasons with the Marlins, Harrison signed with the Los Angeles Angels in 2022. He only played in nine games that season for the Angels, where he hit .182 with one home run and three RBIs. He played in the Brewers minor league organization last season, but did not make it past Triple-A Nashville.
