Monday's CIF-SS playoffs: Two boys tennis teams, one boys lacrosse team reach semifinals

Two local boys tennis teams and one boys lacrosse team advanced to the semifinal round of the CIF-Southern Section playoffs with wins on Monday.

The Oak Park High boys tennis team continued its perfect season with a 12-6 victory over visiting Claremont in a Division 1 quarterfinal match. The Coastal Canyon League champion improved to 14-0 on the season and will play at JSerra on Wednesday.

The Foothill Tech boys tennis team defeated visiting Mark Keppel 13-5 in a Division 4 quarterfinal match. The Tri-Valley League champion improved to 12-2 on the season and will play at Millikan on Wednesday.

After Hart netted the game-tying goal with 0.8 seconds left in regulation, Lawson Spruill scored in overtime to lift the Oaks Christian boys lacrosse team to an 8-7 win over the host Indians in a Division 3 quarterfinal game. The Lions will host El Segundo in a semifinal game at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

In other quarterfinal tennis matches, Newbury Park had its season come to an end with an 11-7 loss to visiting South Torrance in a Division 2 match. Kei Ohya swept his singles sets and Karthik Tholudur and Jason Kiang swept their doubles sets for the Panthers. Tholudur and Kiang went 60-0 in six-game sets on the season and will play in the CIF-SS Individual Tournament next week.

Camarillo lost to host Riverside Poly 15-3 in a Division 3 quarterfinal match.
