MLB unveils 2023 postseason schedule, World Series begins Oct. 27

The chase for a World Series title will begin with a wild-card quadrupleheader on October 3 and most likely won't conclude until the calendar turns to November.

MLB released its official 2023 postseason and broadcast schedule on Tuesday, charting out the path the 12 playoff teams will need to navigate to achieve the ultimate goal of winning a championship ring.

This year's Fall Classic, televised exclusively on Fox, will begin on Friday, October 28, at the home of the team with the better regular-season record. Game 7, if the series goes that far, will be played on Saturday, November 4.

Here's a look at the information you need to know to get ready for postseason baseball (all times TBD):

What is the AL/NL wild card schedule?

The best-of-three AL and NL wild card playoffs will begin with all four series playing on the same days. The division winners with the worst overall record in each league, along with the wild card teams with the best record in each league will host all games.

  • Game 1: Tuesday, Oct. 3

  • Game 2: Wednesday, Oct. 4

  • Game 3: Thursday, Oct. 5 (if necessary)

All games will air on ESPN platforms.

What is the AL/NL division series schedule?

The best-of-five AL and NL division series will open with all four series playing on the same day. However, the AL and NL games will be staggered going forward.

AL division series

  • Game 1: Saturday, Oct. 7

  • Game 2: Sunday, Oct. 8

  • Game 3: Tuesday, Oct. 10

  • Game 4: Wednesday, Oct. 11 (if necessary)

  • Game 5: Thursday, Oct. 12 (if necessary)

All ALDS games will air on Fox/FS1.

NL division series

  • Game 1: Saturday, Oct. 7

  • Game 2: Monday, Oct. 9

  • Game 3: Wednesday, Oct. 11

  • Game 4: Thursday, Oct. 12 (if necessary)

  • Game 5: Saturday, Oct. 14 (if necessary)

All NLDS games will air on TBS.

The best-of-seven AL and NL championship series will begin on Oct. 15 and 16.

AL championship series

  • Game 1: Sunday, Oct. 15

  • Game 2: Monday, Oct. 16

  • Game 3: Wednesday, Oct. 18

  • Game 4: Thursday, Oct. 19

  • Game 5: Friday, Oct. 20 (if necessary)

  • Game 6: Sunday, Oct. 22 (if necessary)

  • Game 7: Monday, Oct. 23 (if necessary)

All ALCS games will air on Fox/FS1.

NL championship series

  • Game 1: Monday, Oct. 16

  • Game 2: Tuesday, Oct. 17

The best-of-seven World Series will begin on Oct. 27 at the home park of the team with the better regular-season record.
