Mitch Trubisky’s time with Steelers is over

Former North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback Mitch Trubisky will be looking for a new home for the 2024 NFL season.

Just a day after the 2023 season ended with Kansas City beating San Francisco, Pittsburgh made some roster moves including releasing three players. Among those three players was Trubisky, who spent two seasons with the time.

Trubisky joined the Steelers back in 2022, the same year they drafted Kenny Pickett in the first round. As Trubisky entered the season as the starter, Pickett eventually took over and won the job, moving Trubisky into a backup role with the team, which he had here in the 2023 season as well.

A report from Mike Garafolo stated that the two sides mutually agreed to part this offseason.

This is now a chance for the former No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft to get his career back on track. He should have suitors on the free agent market, likely in a backup role.
