Who will Missouri women's basketball play in SEC Tournament? Seed, time, TV

A loss Sunday confirmed Missouri's fate.

Mizzou women’s basketball dropped its regular-season finale, falling against Mississippi State, 89-70, on the road in Starkville, Mississippi.

Hayley Frank led Missouri with 18 points, Ashton Judd added 17 and Mama Dembele had a 16-point, seven-assist performance, but the Tigers fell to a familiar result.

With the loss in Starkville, the Tigers have dropped 11 straight games to close the regular season.

Next up for Robin Pingeton’s team: The SEC Tournament in Greenville, South Carolina.

Here’s what you need to know about Missouri’s trip to the conference tournament, including seeding, TV information and the Tigers' opening-round opponent:

What seed is Mizzou women’s basketball in the SEC Tournament?

The Tigers, like Dennis Gates’ Mizzou basketball team, will take the No. 14 and final seed to the SEC Tournament.

Had Missouri (11-18, 2-14 SEC) won Sunday, it would have leapfrogged Georgia — the last team the Tigers beat, coming back on Jan. 18 — for the second-to-last seed, but the loss confirmed their place in the league’s last-placed team.

After this season is over, Robin Pingeton has one year remaining on her current contract.

Former Missouri athletic director Desiree Reed-Francois had said that Pingeton needed to get the Tigers back to the NCAA Tournament to retain her job, but the AD’s exit for Arizona has left a decision for interim athletic director Marcy Girton or whoever is hired as MU’s next athletic director.

If Missouri chose to buy out Pingeton’s contract at the end of the season, it would cost the university at least $233,000.
