Mississippi State women's basketball announces sellout vs LSU, Angel Reese, Kim Mulkey

STARKVILLE — Mississippi State women's basketball coach Sam Purcell has often said one of his goals is to have a sellout at Humphrey Coliseum. In less than two full seasons at the helm, he has fulfilled that one.

Monday's matchup between Mississippi State (16-5, 3-3 SEC) and LSU (18-3, 5-2) is sold out, MSU announced. Capacity at The Hump is listed at 9,100.

It'll be the 17th-largest crowd ever for an MSU women's game and the biggest since a January 2020 win against Ole Miss − Vic Schaefer's last season as coach of the Bulldogs. That contest drew a crowd of 9,503 when The Hump had a larger capacity prior to recent renovations.

For LSU, this is nothing new. The defending champions have drawn numerous sellouts or program-best crowds on the road this season, including an attendance of 9,074 in a win at Ole Miss earlier this month.

Tip-off between the Bulldogs and Tigers is slated for 6 p.m. on SEC Network.

Mississippi State is coming off a Quadrant 1 win at Florida on Jan. 22. No. 9 LSU is coming off a rare home loss, falling to No. 1 South Carolina on Jan. 25.

The Tigers have won their last three meetings in the series against the Bulldogs. However, MSU won the previous nine matchups.
