TEAM OF THE WEEK

Union Grove

The Broncos won a pair of games over competitive programs to earn the team of the week nod while improving to 8-3-1 overall and 3-0 in the Southern Lakes Conference. On Tuesday in a 3-1 win over Waterford (10-4), senior Julia James led scorers with two goals and an assist. Senior Lia Peterson added the third goal, while junior Marley Busey contributed an assist. In its second game of the week on Saturday, Union Grove beat The Prairie School (6-3-2) 1-0 on a goal by junior Rhyan Hood off an assist from Peterson. Senior goalkeeper Makayla Mackiewicz shut out The Prairie School with five saves, adding to her three from Tuesday. The wins put Union Grove on top of the Southern Lakes Conference entering the week, with another league game scheduled Tuesday against Burlington.

COMING UP

Franklin at Muskego, 6:30 p.m. Thursday: Our area No. 4 and No. 5 teams meet in a rematch of a sectional battle that ended Franklin's 2023 season.

Whitefish Bay at Cedarburg, 7 p.m. Thursday: Two North Shore programs that entered the week without a loss in the conference renew their rivalry.

Sussex Hamilton at Divine Savior Holy Angels, 7 p.m. Thursday: Our No. 3 and No. 9 teams entered the week within a game of each another for the Greater Metro Conference lead.

New Berlin Eisenhower at Brookfield East, 7 p.m. Friday: One of the area's top Division 3 programs visits a Division 1 team on the cusp of our area top 10 in a nonconference match.
