Mike Vrabel details why he hired Lori Locust, Tennessee Titans' 1st female assistant coach
For the first time in franchise history, the Tennessee Titans have a full-time female assistant coach.
Titans coach Mike Vrabel announced the hiring of Lori Locust as a defensive quality control assistant on Tuesday. Vrabel said Locust, who worked as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers assistant defensive line coach in 2019-21, will assist Titans outside linebackers coach Ryan Crow.
"I thought her knowledge was excellent," Vrabel said. "I enjoyed our meetings that we were able to have at the Senior Bowl. She's done it. She's done it. She's got experience in this league. I'm excited to be able to bring on somebody that's worked with a lot of great players and been around great defenses in Tampa."

Locust became the first female position coach to win a Super Bowl when the Buccaneers beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV. Prior to her time with the Buccaneers, Locust served various roles in multiple leagues, including the AAF, the U.S. Women's Football League and numerous indoor leagues. She also worked as a defensive line coaching intern with the Baltimore Ravens in 2018.
Locust is the first woman the Titans have hired for a full-time, on-field role, but the Titans do have a female full-time scouting assistant in Mical Johnson.
