Mike Moustakas released by Chicago White Sox
The Chicago White Sox announced Friday that they released former Cincinnati Reds infielder Mike Moustakas. He was in camp as a non-roster invitee.
The White Sox announced in February that Moustakas, 35, agreed to terms on a minor-league deal.
Moustakas hit .247 with 12 home runs in 386 plate appearances last season. He played for the Colorado Rockies until a June trade sent him to the Los Angeles Angels for minor-leaguer Connor Van Scoyoc.
Moustakas signed a four-year, $64 million deal with the Reds as a free agent in December 2019, after an All-Star season with the Milwaukee Brewers. Over three seasons for the Reds, he hit .216 with 21 homers and 74 RBIs.
Over 13 big-league seasons, Moustakas has hit .247 with 215 homers. He's a three-time All-Star.
