Mike Mitchell responds to Santonio Holmes

Panthers safety Mike Mitchell didn't appreciate Jets receiver Santonio Holmes' comments about the Carolina secondary earlier this week.

Holmes said the Panthers defensive backs were the team's weakest link, hinting that it could be an area the Jets can attack.

Mitchell took offense to that, saying he's hoping his fellow defensive backs will get fired up as a result.

“The whole team should take it personal,” Mitchell said, via the Charlotte Observer. “I like that coach tries to do things like that. Always making it team, team, team. I think that’s very good how he does that for us.”

Mitchell said he passed Holmes' quote on to his teammates.

“Any time you get bulletin board material, it’s easy,” Mitchell said. “You grab it, snag it, they have it, our guys saw it and everyone’s aware of it now.”
