Midwest Modifieds Tour headlines Week 4 racing at Jennerstown Speedway

JENNERSTOWN ― For the third week in a row, a touring series invaded the Jennerstown Speedway Complex. The Midwest Modifieds Tour headlined the racing program which was delayed by some lingering rain.

But it was worth the wait.

Kyle Purvis, who had the fastest time in Economy Auto Parts Qualifying, took the checkered flag in the feature. The Marion, Ohio driver topped Buddy Gray and Matt Dimit. A two-time Midwest Modifieds Tour champion, Purvis took the lead from Greg Fullarton on Lap 19 and picked up his 11th career win.

Young guns Lakin, Hemminger ready to get behind the wheel as racing season gets underway

Anthony Aiello opened the night with a win in the Stoystown Auto Wreckers Modifieds. Aiello started in the front row and was able to best points leader Doug Glessner to claim his first win of the season. Jason Busch started third and finished third. Busch has four starts, and four top-5 finishes this season.

Somerset's Josh Dunmyer cruised to his first triumph of the season in the One Stop Auto Sales Pro Stock Division. Dunmyer started in the front row and raced away from the competition. He bested Kyle Burkholder and points leader Will Hemminger.

It was all Bryan Shipp in the Martella's Pharmacies Late Model feature. The Scottdale driver started on the pole and held off Jeremy Shaffer and Teddy Gibala to earn his first win of the 2023 campaign. Shipp has four top-5 finishes to begin the season, including Saturday night's victory.

Stoystown's Rick Meehleib captured his second victory of the year in the Ron's Collision Center Street Stocks. Meehleib, who trails his son, Richard Meehleib Jr. by four points in the season-long points standings, bested Brent Bickerstaff and the aforementioned Meehleib Jr.

R.J. Dallape closed the night of racing with his second straight victory in the Somerset Trust Fast N' Furious 4's. The Boswell driver has two starts and two firsts to begin the year. Dallape finished ahead of teammates Skylar Berkey and Caleb Vasos, who leads the division in points.

May 27 is Armed Forces Night at Jennerstown Speedway. There will be Twin 35 features in the Martella's Pharmacies Late Model Division. All six divisions will be in action on Saturday. Opening ceremonies are set for 5:50 p.m. with racing slated for 6.
