Notes: The Wolverines will take the field for warmups at 11:30 a.m. in the first spring game open to the public since 2019. The event is free for fans to attend. The scrimmage counts as one of 15 spring practices allowed under NCAA rules. Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick serves as honorary captain. He led the Niners to the Super Bowl in the 2012 season under head coach Jim Harbaugh.

It was a rocky offseason for the defending Big Ten champions, with the loss of both coordinators — both of whom called the plays — and the eventual return of Harbaugh after he interviewed with the NFL's Minnesota Vikings. That all led to a new contract for Harbaugh.
The Wolverines open the 2022 regular season Sept. 3 vs. Colorado State, one of four consecutive home games to begin the season, and start the conference schedule Sept. 24 vs. Maryland.
