Michigan defeated Purdue on Saturday, 28-10.

The Wolverines' offense was nonexistent in the first half, only compiling 131 yards.

Redshirt junior quarterback Wilton Speight went 2-4 for 10 yards before getting injured and leaving the game. He never returned, and was "taken blocks away" for examination, according to the TV announcers.

Fifth-year senior quarterback John O'Korn came in in his place and led the Wolverines on a scoring drive that ended in a 12-yard touchdown pass to redshirt sophomore tight end Zach Gentry to put Michigan up 7-0 at 11:34 of the second quarter. The score was the first of Gentry's career.

Purdue answered on the following drive, though, scoring on a 10-yard touchdown pass to redshirt sophomore Brycen Hopkins, tying the game at 7-7.

A field goal with 6:04 left in the second quarter gave Purdue a 10-7 halftime lead.

The Wolverines looked like a different team in the second half, though.

They grabbed a 14-10 lead with 2:42 left in the third quarter on a 10-yard touchdown run by sophomore running back Chris Evans.

They got even more breathing room just minutes into the fourth quarter, when fifth-year senior running back Ty Isaac scored his first touchdown of the season, giving Michigan a 21-10 advantage.

Evans sealed the deal with a 49-yard touchdown run with 6:46 left in the game to put Michigan up 28-10.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Brandon Peters and classmate running back Kareem Walker made their first Michigan appearances on the final drive of the game. Peters completed one pass for four yards, while Walker carried three times for seven yards.

The Wolverine defense completely shut Purdue down in the second half, holding them to just 10 yards.

Michigan's offense, meanwhile, racked up 292 yards in the second half, to finish with 423 for the game.

O'Korn finished 18-26 through the air for 270 yards with a touchdown and a pick, and was confident and effective leading the offense.

The Wolverines have a bye week next Saturday.
