Michele Tafoya done with NBC sideline reporting at end of season

The bye weeks will lead to a final goodbye for Michele Tafoya on the sidelines of “Sunday Night Football.”

The New York Post reported Tuesday NBC Sports’ NFL sideline reporter will step away from the gig … by her own decision.

Per Andrew Marchand of the Post:

Sources said it is Tafoya’s decision to step away from the field. She has been on network TV at CBS, ABC/ESPN and NBC for nearly three decades.

NBC declined comment, while Tafoya could not be immediately reached.

In recent days, Tafoya, 56, has been in the news because she has missed three games, which NBC describes as “bye weeks.”

Kathryn Tappen has filled in for Tafoya while she has been away.

Tafoya’s final game will be the Super Bowl, which NBC is broadcasting on Feb. 13 from SoFi Stadium.

Of course, there is speculation it could also be the final game at the Peacock Network for Al Michaels, who has been prominently mentioned as a candidate for “Thursday Night Football” next season when Amazing takes over that.
