Miami Dolphins predictions: How bad do NFL experts think the Jets get blown out?

The Miami Dolphins are hoping to avoid any Black Friday surprises when they face the New York Jets.

Mike McDaniel's team will be the main attraction in the NFL's first game played the day after Thanksgiving, but the big story will be on the other sideline. Jets coach Robert Saleh announced he would start Tim Boyle at quarterback over Zach Wilson after the latter struggled in last week's 32-6 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Boyle has appeared in 18 games across five NFL seasons, starting three games for the Detroit Lions in 2021 (they went 0-3 and he threw three touchdowns and six interceptions).

The Dolphins (7-3) returned from their bye with a 20-14 win over the Las Vegas Raiders last week. Tua Tagovailoa found Tyreek Hill for a long score, but the NFL's receiving leader briefly left the game with a hand injury. Rookie De'Von Achane returned from a knee injury only to re-injure it after just two touches. If he remains out on a short week, Raheem Mostert should dominate the backfield again after taking 22 carries for 86 yards last week.

Gameday updates: Miami Dolphins face NY Jets in Black Friday game

Should the Dolphins be worried about slipping up against Sauce Gardner and the Jets defense? Here's a look at what NFL experts and analysts are predicting:

Lorenzo Reyes, USA TODAY: Dolphins 27-7

"Tim Boyle has a career 3:9 touchdown-to-interception ratio and is 0-3 in games he has started. Miami’s defense has been steadily improving. This one could get ugly."

Vinnie Iyer, Sporting News: Dolphins 23-16

"The Dolphins need to remember to run the ball and not get too pass happy with Tua Tagovailoa in this type of matchup. They should have run a lot more against the Raiders to exploit their biggest weakness. The Jets also are weak defending the rushing attack. They can't put Tagovailoa in uncomfortable situation vs. a fine pass rush and coverage. The Jets find a little more offense this week with Tim Boyle, but it's not enough as the Dolphins' defense comes through to save the day again."

Pete Prisco, CBS Sports: Dolphins 21-16

"This Friday game the day after Thanksgiving isn't what it was expected to be with the Jets being an offensive disaster. The Jets defense is coming off a bad showing against Buffalo, and will be challenged here by the Dolphins. Tim Boyle will start at quarterback for the Jets, but will it matter? Even so, I think the Jets keep it close with their defense."

Maurice Moton, Bleacher Report: Dolphins 30-7

"The Jets have reconfigured their quarterback depth chart, but they're still going to lose this game by a wide margin with Tim Boyle set to start against the Dolphins. Even if Gang Green pulls him for Trevor Siemian during the game, Miami should dominate a squad that struggles to score points."

Safid Dean, USA TODAY: Dolphins 24-10

"Tua Tagovailoa and Mike McDaniel’s Dolphins offense might have some challenges against Robert Saleh’s defense. But the Jets offense isn’t anything to worry about for Miami. Dolphins roll on Black Friday."

Gennaro Filice, NFL.com: Dolphins 28-14

"For the most part, the Jets' defense has performed admirably since Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles in New York's first drive of the season, routinely giving opponents hell despite receiving minimal support from the offense. But in this past Sunday's 32-6 loss at Buffalo, Gang Green's better half appeared to buckle under the pressure of constantly carrying the team on its back. Sauce Gardner had one of his worst games as a pro, while Quinnen Williams was spotted expressing his frustration in an animated sideline rant. Now this overtaxed defense is tasked with stopping the league's best offense, while its own attack is handing the keys to journeyman QB Tim Boyle. Talk about bringing a knife to a gunfight ..."

Bill Bender, Sporting News: Dolphins 31-14

"Could Aaron Rodgers even save this Jets' offense? The Jets have averaged 9.3 points per game since the bye week, and Zach Wilson has been sacked 19 times in those four games. He was benched for Tim Boyle. The Jets are 3-2 ATS at home with covers against the Chiefs and Eagles, so the opportunity to rise up against a Miami offense that leads the NFL in points per game (30.5) is there. We just don't see it."

Tyler Dragon, USA TODAY: Dolphins 28-15

"Will Zach Wilson’s demotion help a terrible Jets offense? New Jets starting QB Tim Boyle has thrown three touchdowns and nine interceptions in 18 career games. He’s 0-3 in his career as a starter. He’ll be 0-4 as a starter after Sunday. New York’s inept offense won’t be able to score enough points to keep up with a Dolphins team that ranks first in the NFL in total offense and points per game."

John Breech, CBS Sports: Dolphins 24-13
