MIAA state tournament: Live updates of results for Gardner-area teams

The MIAA released the official seedings and brackets for the hockey and basketball state tournaments on Feb. 24. The hockey tournament features four divisions for boys and two divisions for girls, totaling 202 teams. The basketball tournament features five divisions for both boys and girls which includes 428 teams. Three Gardner-area teams qualified for the hockey tournament and six for the basketball tournament.

Here are the seedings and updates of game results as they happen.

Hockey

Gardner

Gardner boys hockey seeded at No. 20 in the Div. 4 hockey bracket, with a final record of 14-6.

Round of 32- February 29: Gardner 2 - at No. 13 North Reading 1

Sweet 16- March 2: No 2 Sandwich 6 - Gardner 3

Fitchburg/Monty Tech

Fitchburg hockey landed at No. 26 in Div. 4 with a final regular season record of 11-9.

Round of 32- February 28: No. 7 Wilmington 4 - Fitchburg 1

Leominster (girls)

The Leominster girls hockey co-op finished with a record of 11-8-0 and are seeded at No. 27 in Division 2.

Round of 32- February 29: Leominster 3 - No. 4 Longmeadow 1

Sweet 16- March 3: No. 11 Marshfield 4 - Leominster 1

Boys Basketball

Oakmont

Oakmont boys basketball team (10-10), coming off a Clark Tournament appearance – including their first win in that tournament since 2008 – is seeded No. 29 in the Div. 3 bracket.

Preliminary Round- February 27: Oakmont 51 - No. 26 Greater Lawrence Tech 31

Round of 32- March 1: No 4. Taconic 55 - Oakmont 45

Monty Tech

Ranked at No. 39 of 40 teams, Monty Tech just squeaked into the Div. 3 tournament.

Preliminary Round- February 27: No. 26 Lowell Catholic 65 - Monty Tech 50

Gardner

The Wildcats (11-9) landed at No. 36 in the Div. 4 tournament bracket.

Girls Basketball

Quabbin

The Panthers, 16-4, are fresh off a Central Mass. title. They are seeded 18th in the Div. 3 tournament.

Round of 32- February 28: No. 15 East Bridgewater 43 - Quabbin 31

Gardner

Gardner finished with a record of 16-4, getting the 21-seed in Div. 4.

Preliminary Round- February 27: Gardner 54 - No. 44 South Lancaster 26

Round of 32- February 29: No. 12 Carver 58 - Gardner 31

Narragansett

The Warriors grabbed the No. 18 seed in the Div. 5 bracket after posting a 11-9 record through regular season.

Round of 32- February 28: Narragansett 52 - No. 15 Greenfield 34

Round of 16- March 5: Narragansett at No. 2 West Boylston, 7 p.m.
