MHSAA boys basketball district pairings released

The Michigan High School Athletic Association boys basketball district pairings were set Sunday, two of which feature teams from the South Bend Tribune coverage area.

In Division 2, Edwardsburg will be hosting a six-team district. The Eddies (11-7) will play the first game of the tournament when they take on Lakeshore (10-8) Monday, Feb. 26 at 5:30 p.m. The second quarterfinal Monday features a pair of area teams as Niles (16-4) faces Dowagiac (8-12).

The Edwardsburg-Lakeshore winner will play No. 3 (D2) Benton Harbor (20-1) in a semifinal, while the Niles-Dowagiac victor gets Berrien Springs (15-5). Both semifinal games are scheduled for Feb. 28, and the championship game is set for March 1.

In Division 3, No. 1 (D3) Brandywine (17-3) received a bye into the semifinals of a district hosted by White Pigeon. It will play either Buchanan (7-12) or Bridgman (12-9), as those two teams face off in the lone quarterfinal game. The other semifinal matchup pits Cassopolis (10-8) playing host White Pigeon (14-4). The first-round game is the 26th, semifinals on the 28th and the final March 1.

Regionals will be played March 5 and 7. State quarterfinal games are scheduled for March 12, state semifinals March 14 and 15 and state championship games March 16. The latter two rounds will be played at the Breslin Center on the campus of Michigan State in East Lansing.
