Luisangel Acuña, Mets' top prospect, day-to-day after being hit in mouth at Double-A game
It was a scary moment for one of the Mets' top prospects on Tuesday night in Binghamton.
Binghamton Rumble Ponies infielder Luisangel Acuña exited the game after being hit in the mouth by Somerset's Zach Messinger in the bottom of the sixth inning of Game 1 of the Eastern League semifinals.
The Rumble Ponies announced that Acuña, the Mets' top prospect according to MLB Pipeline, received a stitch but there were no initial signs of a concussion. He will continued to be monitored and is considered day-to-day.

The 21-year-old was acquired at the trade deadline in a deal that sent Max Scherzer to the Rangers. With the Rumble Ponies, he is slashing .243/.317/.304 with two home runs, 12 RBI , 25 runs and 15 stolen bases in 37 games.
The Rumble Ponies went on to defeat the Patriots, 9-2, with a three-run home run by 2022 first-round pick Jett Williams and two hits, two RBI and a run from JT Schwartz. Luis Moreno allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts in relief of Christian Scott.
Game 2 of the best-of-three series is slated for 6:35 p.m. on Thursday at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater.
