Mets sign OF Taylor Kohlwey to minor league deal with spring training invite

The Mets have signed outfielder Taylor Kohlwey to a minor league deal with an invite to major league spring training, the team announced.

Kohlwey, 29, made his big league debut with the Padres in 2023 and had two hits in 13 at-bats.

During his seven-season minor league career, he has slashed .282/.371/.418 with 46 homers, 131 doubles, and 28 triples in 696 games.

He is capable of playing all three outfield positions and first base.

The Mets are in need of at least one and perhaps two outfielders for the big league roster, but barring something strange happening, it feels that Kohlwey would be destined to spend much of the 2024 season with Triple-A Syracuse.
