Mets @ Rockies, May 26: Max Scherzer starts series opener at 8:40 p.m.

The Mets open a three-game series at Coors Field on Friday night as they take on the Colorado Rockies at 8:40 p.m. on PIX11.


Mets Notes

  • Starling Marte enters Friday night with a nine-game hitting streak at Coors Field, hitting .381 during that stretch. Brandon Nimmo enters with .364 batting average and a .958 OPS during his career at Coors Field.

  • Despite having a losing record all-time at Coors Field, the Mets have won six of their last eight games in Denver. The Mets most recently took two of three against the Rockies in each of their last two trips to Coors Field in April of 2021 and May of 2022.

  • In a ballpark often known for long balls, the Mets enter Colorado with a nine-game home run streak while slugging 16 home runs across that span.

Who is starting for the Mets?

Max Scherzer gets the ball for the Mets in his eighth start of the season. The right-hander posts a 3-2 record with a 4.01 ERA. New York has won Scherzer's last two starts, most recently when he tossed six shutout innings against the Guardians on May 21. In 12 lifetime starts against Colorado, Scherzer is 2-5 with 4.54 ERA. Scherzer has also allowed three hits or less in four of his last five starts.

Who is starting for the Rockies?

Connor Seabold takes the mound for the Rockies with a 1-1 record and a 5.97 ERA. Friday marks Seabold's 12th appearance of the season and his fifth start. Colorado marks Seabold's third organization since 2020 along with Philadelphia and Boston. In his last appearance on Sunday, the righthander surrendered five earned runs in 3.2 innings pitched.
