Who is starting for the Mets?
Kodai Senga makes his first start at the historic Wrigley Field and he is coming off his best start of the season when he struck out 12 over six innings of one-run baseball on three hits against the Tampa Bay Rays.
After being scheduled to pitch in Tuesday's game the Mets pushed the 30-year-old's start one day so he is now pitching on six days rest. He had made five of his previous starts on five days' rest.
Through eight starts in America, the Japanese right-hander has allowed 18 runs on 36 hits over 43 innings for a 3.77 ERA (4.35 FIP) with a 1.442 WHIP. He has walked 26 batters (10th percentile) and struck out 55 (81st percentile) and been tagged with six home runs.
Who is starting for the Cubs?
Marcus Stroman, who played parts of two seasons with the Mets and opt-ed out of the 2020 pandemic season, takes the hill for the North Siders.
The 32-year-old Stroman looks to go at least six innings for the ninth time this season after he allowed one run on three hits over six innings in his last start in Philadelphia.
In 10 starts this season, the right-hander has allowed 19 runs (all earned) on 43 hits over 56 innings pitched for a 3.05 ERA (3.56 FIP) with a 1.143 WHIP. Stroman has walked 21 batters (40th percentile) and struck out 51 (47th percentile) and surrendered four round-trippers.
