Meet The Oklahoman's 2024 All-City high school boys golf first team

Here are The Oklahoman's All-City boys golf first-team selections for the 2024 season.

Members of the first team are nominees for the Boys Golfer of the Year to be announced June 14 at the OKC Metro High School Sports Awards.

Preston Albee, Choctaw

Class: Junior

The story: Albee posted a 71.4 scoring average and played his best golf when it mattered most. The OU commit shot an 8-under-par 205 through three rounds for the Class 6A individual state title. In the second round, he carded a 63 with nine birdies. Albee also won at regionals with a 2-under 70.

Collin Bond, Community Christian

Class: Senior

The story: After winning a Class 2A individual state title as a junior, Bond secured the Class 3A crown this year. The Oklahoma State signee fired a 3-under 210 to win by seven strokes, leading Community Christian to its second straight team championship. He finished the season with a 71.1 scoring average.

Grant Gudgel, Stillwater

Class: Senior

The story: Gudgel wrapped up his high school career with a 71.8 scoring average and several individual wins against tough competition. The Oklahoma State signee placed first at the Norman Tiger Invitational, Owasso Invitational and Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference Invitational.

Ben Lathrop, Heritage Hall

Class: Sophomore

The story: Lathrop carded a 211 to tie for first at the Class 5A state championship, ultimately placing second after a playoff on the 18th hole. He finished the season with a 69.3 scoring average, the lowest in Oklahoma high school boys golf.

Parker Sands, Edmond North

Class: Senior

The story: Sands led the Huskies to their 18th state title. The Florida signee shot an even 213 for fourth place at the Class 6A state tournament, finishing as Edmond North’s top individual. He ended the season with a 71.4 scoring average.

Josh Stuart, Norman North

Class: Senior

The story: Stuart carded a 207 for second place at the Class 6A state tournament. The Pacific signee made five birdies in the third round to finish only two strokes back from Albee. Stuart led Norman North with a season scoring average of 71.8.

Coach of the Year: Jerry Stephens, Community Christian

The story: After guiding the Royals to their first boys golf state title, Stephens repeated the accomplishment in a higher classification. Community Christian ran away with the Class 3A team championship, winning by 69 strokes at Muskogee Country Club. Every CCS golfer finished in the top 20 with Collin Bond and Will Whorton placing first and second, respectively. The Royals also won their regional tournament by 15 strokes.
