The 2023 All-Greater Rochester Girls Large School Volleyball Team is revealed

Here is the 2023 All-Greater Rochester Girls Large School Volleyball Team as determined by a vote of Section V coaches with input from Democrat and Chronicle staff.

Player of the Year

Year: Senior

Parents: Wendy and Peter Clifford

Position: Middle Blocker

Key accomplishments: Achieving 1,000 career kills this year in our game vs. Pittsford Sutherland.

Future plans: Play Division I volleyball at Marquette University and study physical therapy.

Why she is Player of the Year: Meghan Clifford shared this award last season. In 2023, the Fairport senior is the sole AGR Player of the Year after a state championship run to cap an undefeated season. Clifford has been called the "most feared" player in Section V. Her swings are precise and she knows when to attack with power or finesse. Clifford's blocks are also tough to hit around. She was named MVP of the Section V Class AAA tournament, guiding Fairport to back-to-back titles on their way to a 21-0 record.

Year: Junior

Parents: Megan and Andrew Cornman

Position: Outside hitter

Key accomplishments: Led the team in kills (402) and hitting percentage (.324).

Future plans: I plan to attend the University of Hawaii.

Year: Sophomore

Parents: Shannon and Dan Cunniffe

Position: Setter

Key accomplishments: I hit 836 career assists and led the team in aces this season.

Future plans: I'd love to continue playing volleyball at a school in the Northeast with great academics.

Year: Senior

Parents: Megan and Michael Dorritie

Position: Pin hitter

Key accomplishments: 230 kills on the season.

Future plans: I will be attending Binghamton University where I will be playing Division I volleyball.

Year: Senior

Parents: Tracy and Bryan Fitzharris

Positions: Outside hitter and middle blocker.

Key accomplishment: Reached my 1,000th kill in our final match to win the state championship.

Future plans: Playing Division III volleyball at Endicott College while pursuing nursing.

Year: Senior

Parents: Julie and TK Flynn

Position: Setter

Key accomplishment: I broke my own school record with 900 assists this season.

Future plans: I plan to attend a four-year university to study physical education.

Year: Senior

Parents: Erin and Reggie Gerig

Position: Outside hitter

Key accomplishments: 239 kills this season and 10 double doubles (kills and digs).

Future plans: I plan to attend college and play volleyball at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Year: Senior

Parent: Alicia Nagle

Position: Outside and middle hitter

Key accomplishment: 15 kills against Rush-Henrietta.

Future plans: Attend a university in the south and study elementary education.

Year: Junior

Parents: Jessie Ventura and Jeff McKinney

Position: Setter

Key accomplishments: I am proud of being named all-league Player of the Year and registering 402 assists this season.

Future plans: I hope to continue playing volleyball at the colligate level.

Year: Senior

Parents: Debbie and Jeff Mueller

Position: Outside hitter/libero

Key accomplishments: Four-time First Team All-Greater Rochester, set school record for career digs.

Future plans: I am committed to play Division I volleyball at Colgate University and plan to study biology or social sciences.

Year: Senior

Parents: Colleen and Rob Murphy

Position: Right side hitter

Key accomplishment: Finished the season with 32 blocks.

Future plans: I'm going to the University at Albany to play Division I lacrosse and plan on majoring in human biology.

Year: Junior

Parents: Carlotta Gambato and Ronni Pavan

Position: Outside hitter

Key accomplishments: 184 kills and 171 digs.

Future plans: I am eager to come back for my senior season and help the team get as far as possible in sectionals. After that I wish to continue my volleyball career in college.

Co-Coaches of the Year

Profession: Technology education teacher

Varsity coaching experience: 1999-2001 Wayne girls varsity; 2001-2011 Webster Thomas boys/girls varsity; 2011-2015 Schroeder girls JV; 2015-present Schroeder girls varsity coach.

Family: Wife Jennifer (teacher, my rock); daughter Grace (21 years old, Alfred University Student and played for me 2019-2020); son Caiden (19 years old, Army National Guard); son Boston (Webster Thomas senior, 17 years old, three-sport athlete soccer, basketball and golf).

Trish Forgensi

School: Fairport

Profession: Elementary special education teacher in Webster CSD

Varsity coaching experience: Junior college coach for four years before arriving at Fairport five years ago.

Family: My husband is Justin and we have 2 beautiful baby girls. Haisley was just born in May and Kinsley is turning 4. My Fairport girls have celebrated both of my babies with me.
