Meet the 2023-24 Shreveport Times All-City boys’ high school basketball team

Here’s a look at the 2023-24 Shreveport Times All-City boys’ basketball team selected after consultation with area coaches. The team covers schools in Caddo and Bossier parishes.

Player of the Year

Jeremiah Evans

Southwood, Sr.

Ht: 6-foot-10 Position: Center

Why selected: The Louisiana Lafayette signee was a dominant force in the paint for the Cowboys over the past four seasons. Evans' 3-pointer from the top of the key against Captain Shreve vaulted his team into the LHSAA Select Division I semifinals. Evans averaged 22 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks and two assists for the season.

Coach of the Year

Brandon Gultery

Southwood

Why selected: Although the Cowboys lost twice to Captain Shreve to finish second in District 1-5A, Gultery’s gang won the LHSAA Select Division I quarterfinal contest in the Gators’ gym to advance to the semifinals for the first time in 22 years. Southwood was 12-2 in the league, 25-9 overall in 2024.

Calvary, Sr.

Ht: 5-11 Pos: Point guard

Why selected: The Henderson State signee averaged 20.1 points, 6.2 assists, 4.1 rebounds and two steals for coach Vic Morris.

Javon Johnson

Bossier, Sr.

Ht: 6-1 Pos: Guard

Why selected: The dynamic shooter averaged 20.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.1 steals for coach Justin Collins.

Captain Shreve, Sr.

Ht: 6-3 Pos: Guard

Why selected: The best player on the District 1-5A champs averaged 15 points, six rebounds, two assists and a block each game for coach Corey Deans.

CJ Mason-Jones

BTW, Sr.

Ht: 5-10 Pos: Guard

Why selected: The senior was unstoppable on the perimeter averaging 21 points and four assists for coach Kenny Sykes.

Why selected: Henderson ran his team to perfection while averaging 17.6 points, six assists and three rebounds for coach Kenny Wayne Goldman.
