Medalist Jake Olson leads Arrow golfers to their fourth-straight tourney win at Yankton

.

YANKTON — The weather has cooled off a bit this week but it didn't do the same to Watertown High School's boys golf team on Friday in the Yankton Invitational.

The Arrows, led by medalist Jake Olson shot an 8-under 280 and won their fourth-straight tournament by two shots over Harrisburg. O'Gorman was third at 284 and Pierre fourth at 285.

"Today was a great test for us on the course where the ESD (Eastern South Dakota Conference) tournament is going to be held in a couple of weeks," said Watertown head coach Corey Neale.

"We didn't start as fast as a few teams and were in fourth place, seven shot back, halfway through the round. The guys continued to trust themselves and their game, kept a positive mindset and finished the round on top. It's exactly what we need to do from here on out to contend for ESD and state Class AA titles."

Olson won his third tournament of the season by winning a sudden-death playoff on the third extra hole over teammate Kaden Rylance and Riley Christensen of Harrisburg. All three golfers shot 68s to lead the pack. Luke Olson and Sawyer Sonnenschein of Pierre tied for fourth with 69s.
