The Match coming to The Park in West Palm Beach, will feature PGA Tour, LPGA Tour stars

The Match 2024 is coming to The Park.

The made-for-television golf competition will be held at the West Palm Beach golf course on Feb. 26 and for the first time feature stars from the PGA and LPGA Tours.

Two of the world's top 10 male golfers, No. 2 Rory McIlroy of Jupiter and No. 7 Max Homa, will be joined by major winner Lexi Thompson of Delray Beach and Rose Zhang, the rookie sensation who won her first LPGA event after turning pro in May.

With a 6:30 p.m. start, the 12-hole event will be under the lights and televised by TNT, truTV and HLN.

Ernie Johnson and Charles Barkley will serve as commentators. Others involved in the broadcast include Kathryn Tappen, 2008 Masters champion Trevor Immelman, three-time LPGA champion Christina Kim, Grammy winner DJ Khaled and NHL analyst Paul Bissonnette.

The event will support the youth organization First Tee. The Match has raised more than $38 million for various philanthropic organizations across the United States.

For the first time, The Match will be a mixed skins format with each hole worth a specified amount for charity.

The first Match featured Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson in 2018 and was held in Las Vegas. The eight events have included a mixture of PGA Tour stars (Woods, Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, McIlroy) and NFL and NBA stars (Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Barkley, Stephen Curry, Aaron Rodgers, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Klay Thompson).

The only other Match to be held in the area was in the second edition in 2020 at Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound. Woods and Manning defeated Mickelson and Brady in the four-ball format.

McIlroy, a four-time major champion with 38 wins worldwide, and Homa, a six-time PGA Tour winner, were on opposite teams in the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome with McIlroy's European team dominating Homa and the U.S.

Thompson is an 11-time winner on the LPGA Tour and has played in six Solheim Cups. She became the seventh woman to compete in a PGA Tour event in October, narrowly missing the cut at the Shriners Children’s Open.

Zhang won the Mizuho Americas Open in her professional debut in June. She won the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship in 2022 and 2023.

Only eligible Capital One cardholders will have access to attend the event. Cardholders will be able to purchase or redeem their rewards for tickets exclusively through Capital One Entertainment.
