Often when debating the best to ever play in the National Hockey League, names such as Bobby Orr, Wayne Gretzky, and Gordie Howe are brought to the forefront.
But, what about the goalies?
The great netminders of the NHL’s history don’t seem to get the love they deserve in the debate for the greatest of all-time. So, maybe it’s worth figuring out this instead: Who is the best puck stopper of all-time?
With his induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame happening this week, it is hard to overlook Martin Brodeur as a potential front runner for this distinction.
Name a record attainable by a goaltender and this guy probably owns it.
Brodeur holds the mark for the most wins, shutouts and goals by a netminder in NHL history. Couple those three stats with three Stanley Cup championships and there may not be a goalie capable of putting together a better case for the title.
