Mapleton girls, Loudonville boys lead way in Mid-Buckeye Conference soccer selections

Mapleton girls finished the 2023 soccer season 11-6-1 and were highly ranked as one of the top teams in Division III throughout the season, and with that were awarded for their play by the Mid-Buckeye Conference.

Mapleton forward Brinlee Youngen (42 goals, eight assists) was named MBC Player of the Year and was a first team selection, while Mapleton coach Carly Stevens received Coach of the Year honors.

Joining Youngen on the first team are teammates Caitlyn Vermilya, Maggie Hellickson, Audrey Hellickson and Gracen Beattie. Loudonville's Emma Carney, and Crestview's Gracie Dinsmore, Lily Cline and Devon Hickey were also first-team selections.

On the second team was Mapleton's Skylar Hopstetter and Pipper Weidinger, and Crestview's Olivia Grant and Elyse Belcher.

Mapleton's Ava Clay, and Loudonville's Quinn Morris and Maggie England were selected as honorable mention.

On the boys side, four Loudonville players were all-MBC selections. Loudonville's Brendon Hess and Aidan Neibert were voted on the first team, while Zeke Hershberger made the second team and Keltin Baker was honorable mention.

Crestview's Mike Pond shared Coach of the Year honors with Central Christian's Alex Steiner, as four Crestview players were all-conference selections.

Cougars players Trenten Weaver and Ty Callahan were voted on the first team, while Tyler Holloway made second team and Everett Smith made honorable mention.
