Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.
Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Arsenal secure an important 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford. The Gunners are still fighting to lift the Premier League title, and the three points take them to the top of the table. Arteta’s side weren’t at their best throughout, but they managed to create 1.69 expected goals compared to United’s 0.64. Arsenal opened the scoring in the first half as Havertz found himself in space beyond the defensive line, and he carried the ball into the box before picking out Trossard who could tap into an empty net. United struggled to produce too many clear-cut opportunities in the second half as they fought back for an equaliser despite Garnacho having a couple of chances to draw level, but his end product let him down. Martinelli had the best opportunity of the game as he cut inside before striking towards goal, but Onana was equal to it between the sticks. The Gunners remained resolute late on as the Red Devils threw everything at it, and Arteta's side now top the Premier League table. That's their best opportunity of the game since they opened the scoring.

It's switched out wide to Garnacho and he drifts inside onto his right foot, and he's in acres of space just outside the box. Arsenal will now have a corner and it's Saka who will take. It's heading for the front post and Saliba has peeled away from his marker. He attempts to flick it on towards the back post, but he gets too much on it and it's over the bar.

He pulls it back to the edge of the penalty area where Rice is waiting, and he strikes towards goal but his powerful effort is blocked. It eventually comes to Trossard, but his cross is shut down.

As it stands, according to Opta's live win probability calculator, Manchester United have just a 7.3 per cent chance of winning the game, with a draw at 20.8 per cent, and an Arsenal victory at 71.9 per cent. Despite being in the lead, Arteta won't be totally satisfied with the performance from his team. Trossard's finish counted for 0.64 of their 0.98 total expected goals tally, so the Gunners haven't created as much as the Spanish manager would have liked. Arsenal have plenty of options on the bench, with Arteta being able to choose from an almost fully-fit squad, so we could see the likes of Martinelli, Jorginho, or Zinchenko earlier in the second half. It's a contrasting story for Ten Hag with plenty of inexperienced youngsters among the substitutes - Antony and Eriksen are their only players available over the age of 21.

The Gunners have been a threat in the final third, producing 0.98 expected goals (xG), but they've not had total control of the game like we usually see from Arteta's side.
