Male WR Max Gainey and Atherton coach Anthony White headline all-district football teams

Male High School wide receiver Max Gainey and Atherton coach Anthony White have been named Player of the Year and Coach of the Year by the Greater Louisville Football Coaches Association.

Gainey has 45 receptions for 859 yards to lead a Male team that is 10-1 and ranked No. 1 in Class 6A entering the second round of the playoffs. He leads the Bulldogs with 23 touchdowns — 18 receiving, two rushing, two punt returns and one kickoff return.

Other nominees for Player of the Year were Christian Academy quarterback Cole Hodge, Collins quarterback Kade Goodin, North Hardin wide receiver Shaun Boykins, Male quarterback Kolter Smith, Ballard running back Journey Wyche and Central running back Cortez Stone.

White has led Atherton to a 10-1 record, setting a single-season school record for victories. The Ravens will host Butler on Friday in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs.
