Making it to 'ManningCast:' Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence to be a guest on MNF show

One more reason Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is commanding more of a national presence: he will be a guest on "ManningCast," Monday night, an Emmy-Award winning show where Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning provide commentary on the NFL's Monday Night Football game on ESPN2 in a simulcast with the ABC broadcast.

"ManningCast" is in its third season where the brothers, along with guests, give a running analysis of the game as it's being played -- or any other subject that comes to mind. Lawrence will appear during a game between the Los Angeles Chargers and the New York Jets at East Rutherford, N.J., which kicks off at 8:15 p.m.

Lawrence will share the guest slot with actor and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was announced previously, and former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson.

Omaha Productions, which produces the show (the name is based on Peyton Manning's now-famous audible, "Omaha!") did not specify which half of the game Lawrence or Schwarzenegger would on the air.

Lawrence actually has appeared with the Manning brothers before -- on a YouTube video promoting the start of the 2023 season. He also worked at the Manning Passing Academy as a counselor in the summer of 2020.

Trevor Lawrence has beaten both teams

Lawrence may have a unique perspective on the game: As a starting quarterback, he's 3-1 against the Chargers and Jets, including last season's AFC playoff game when he shook off four first-half interceptions and led the Jaguars to a 31-30 victory.

Lawrence will be the first active NFL player to appear on ManningCast this season. Aaron Rodgers was on the show earlier this season but he's on the Jets' injured list.

Others to appear on the show this season have been former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, NBA star Klay Thompson, tennis legend John McEnroe, talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel and actors Will Ferrell and Tiffany Haddish.

Guests in the first two years included former President Barack Obama, former U.S. Defense Secretary Condoleezza Rice, Tom Brady, the Rock, Lebron James and Jon Stewart.

The Jaguars (6-2) returned to work on Monday after a bye week and will play host to the San Francisco 49ers (5-3) at EverBank Stadium on Sunday (1 p.m., FOX-30). The Jags lead the AFC South by two games, have won five in a row.

ManningCast has earned two Emmys

ManningCast has won two Sports Emmys, for Omaha Productions for Outstanding Live Sports Series and for Peyton Manning for Outstanding Sports Personality.

Omaha Sports also produces alternative telecasts for college football, NBA, golf, and The UFC.

The company serves as executive producer on NFL Honors and ESPN+’s Places franchise featuring series from the Manning brothers, Abby Wambach, Vince Carter, David Ortiz, Ronda Rousey, P.K. Subban, Sue Bird, and John McEnroe.
