Which major basketball prospects earned offers from FSU during the Seminoles team camp

TALLAHASSEE — Florida State University basketball hit the recruiting trail hard during their annual Team Camp. Teams across the Southeast competed for two days before bracket play began Sunday.

Over 100 games were played at different FSU facilities, allowing the staff to watch their targets play against other college prospects. Florida State head coach Leonard Hamilton was courtside for several highly anticipated matchups.

Five of the hundreds of kids in attendance have offers from the ACC title contender. Two 2026 prospects picked up scholarship offers from FSU after big time performances. Let’s dive into what made these six players stand out and what made the Seminoles offer them a spot on the team.

Christopher Washington Jr. | The Villages

Washington Jr. was one of the freshmen who impressed with the Noles staff watching him. The 6’7 athlete plays with a high motor and produces on both ends of the floor. He’s the prototypical FSU prospect with incredible length. He rebounded on both ends of the floor, shot well from the three point line, and showcased his athleticism with some of the most ferocious dunks of the weekend. The small forward’s defensive versatility helped him earn his first high major offer.

“This is my dream school,” Washington Jr. said. “I’m glad he dropped the offer. I was so happy I got a little emotional.”

Jalen “Roc” Lee | West Oaks

Lee is a recent transfer to national powerhouse West Oaks Academy. He’s part of the Flames' tradition of finding a lead guard that pushes his team to the top of high school basketball rankings. The 6’6 rising senior is a shifty ball handler that puts pressure on the rim and is a capable shooter. Lee’s size, athleticism, and ability to make plays on the offensive end fit the mold of an FSU guard. He dropped 30 points against 4-star forward Derrion Reid. Lee earned his offer in April and reconfirmed with multiple high level games in front of the staff. He’s currently unranked but won’t be long while showcasing his talent with the Showtime Ballers.

Derrion Reid | Grovetown (GA)

Reid is a 6’7 wing with a frame that’ll become bigger when he’s in a college weight room. The top 50 prospect is a long, lean athlete that thrives on the defensive end. With his size, he can cover guards and forwards. Offensively he excels at getting to the rim, where his strength allows him to finish through contact. He’s an ideal wing that shoots well from deep and adds perimeter depth. Florida State extended an offer in October of 2022.

Marcis Ponder | Overtime Elite

Ponder was one of the most dominant players at the camp. The 7-foot center improved his conditioning, unlocking his footwork around the rim. He’s light on his feet for a big guy pushing 240 pounds. The freshman has soft hands, scores through contact, and has the timing to be an elite shot blocker in his class. His recruitment is on the rise after strong showings on the Under Armor circuit with Team Breakdown. He’s racked up offers from Alabama, Illinois, and Mississippi State among others. Ponder received his fourth high major offer after playing on Sunday after impressing coach Hamilton over several games.

“I felt underrated,” Ponder said. “I felt like I should have been top 25, but I know I have to work.

Marcus Allen | Norland

Allen spent a year playing in the NIBC with AZ Prep. He’s returned to his original high school team to compete for a state championship with a talented core of college prospects. The 6’7 wing is a long athlete who can defend multiple positions, excels as an above the rim finisher, and improved as an on ball scorer. The 2024 prospect flexed all his tools in front of Coach Hamilton on Friday night. Allen plans to cut his list of schools in July.

“Florida State’s always felt like a family,” Allen said. “What people don’t know is Florida State was one of the first schools to offer me as a freshman.”
