"It's a first for me, but it's the fifth consecutive (Champions League victory) for Olympique Lyonnais. We were talking about gender equality, there we go, it's achieved, because today, Olympique Lyonnais' women's team is at the same level as the Real Madrid men's team in the 1950s and 1960s. Yes, it's a great satisfaction. They wanted to make history, they started doing so a couple of years ago, and I think they're not yet done making history."

"We've stepped it up in this competition and even physically, because I think that although we had a bit of a slump in the first half, we've performed very well especially in this first half. And of course, we had to find a solution since we had suffered against Bayern (in semi-finals), and we had found a system that's more fit for the situation. Then again, hat's off because they've immediately learned to get into it."

"It became clear that when we applied pressure up front and put pressure on Lyon that we could beat them. Unfortunately, we did so too late and I would add, once more. We started too late trying to walk off the pith as the winners. Despite everything we have to express our respect for Lyon and congratulate them. We need to look ahead, get over this and continue to believe in our strengths."

STORY: Olympique Lyonnais' record-breaking UEFA Women's Champions League win on Sunday (August 30) was a "great satisfaction," its coach said on Sunday (August 30) after the French club's 3-1 victory against VfL Wolfsburg.
"They wanted to make history, they started doing so a couple of years ago, and I think they're not yet done making history," Jean-Luc Vasseur told a news conference after the duel.
Striker Eugenie Le Sommer scored one goal and made another as Olympique Lyonnais beat Wolfsburg, earning the title for an unprecedented fifth time in a row.
Called up to the starting line-up in place of the suspended Nikita Parris, Le Sommer collected the rebound from her own shot and swept the ball home in the 25th minute to put the French side ahead in San Sebastian.
With Wolfsburg struggling to hold on to the ball, Saki Kumagai struck a hammer blow for Lyon two minutes before halftime with a superb left-foot strike from the edge of the box to make it 2-0.
Wolfsburg looked much more threatening in the second half as Danish striker Pernille Harder, who is reported to be joining English Women's Super League side Chelsea this week, caused havoc by dropping deeper to get on the ball.
But despite a much-improved performance in the second half, Icelandic midfielder Sara Bjoerk Gunnarsdottir put the game beyond doubt when she steered home Le Sommer's shot in the 88th minute to secure Lyon's fifth successive Champions League.
