Magic Johnson bemoans status of Michigan State after weekend: 'We have to be better'

Michigan State had something of a bad weekend in Week 8 of the college football season.

In the midst of a 49-0 beatdown at the hands of Michigan — one that approached historic levels of dominance on the part of the Wolverines — the university also was forced to address that the Spartan Stadium scoreboard displayed a picture of Adolf Hitler as part of a trivia quiz.

Outside of the athletics department, Michigan State board chair Rema Vassar is reportedly under fire for alleged bullying and interference in legal disputes. All of this happened during a season in which former football coach Mel Tucker was fired with cause for allegedly sexually harassing sexual violence educator and survivor Brenda Tracy.

Legendary Spartan basketball player Magic Johnson — who has made donations to Michigan State in the past, including $3 million in the 2010s — could only bemoan the current state of his former university. Per a Monday post to his X (formerly Twitter) account:
