Maclay school announce Meredith Locasto as the schools new athletic director

Maclay School has announced Meredith Locasto as the program's new athletic director.

Locasto will be the fifth athletic director in the school's history when she begins her role in July. She replaces Harlod Hilliard, who has served as Maclay's AD since 2020 and is taking the director of athletics role with the Community School of Naples, also starting in July.

“I am eager to get started in my new role as the Director of Athletics at the Maclay School,” saidLocasto in a press release. “When I came to campus, I knew that this place was special in the way that the wholecommunity shares an enthusiastic passion for our athletic programs."

Locasto spent the last four years as associate athletic director and director of aquatics at Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey, while also being head girls' lacrosse coach at the school.

“The Maclay Community is excited for the addition of Mrs. Locasto’s leadership and child-centered approach to character and athletic development," Maclay head of school James Milford said in a press release. "She has spent her career devoted to the wellness and development of the whole student-athlete and is well aligned with the Maclay mission. We look forward to having her voice leading and hands working toward building an outstanding athletic program as part of the Maclay experience."

Locasto's first day as Maclay's athletic director will be July 1.

The full press release reads:

"Maclay School is excited to announce Meredith Locasto as the new Athletic Director. Locasto brings a wealth of experience in administration and coaching to Maclay and is looking forward to starting her new position at the helm of the Marauders program this July.

“I am eager to get started in my new role as the Director of Athletics at the Maclay School,” saidLocasto. “When I came to campus, I knew that this place was special in the way that the wholecommunity shares an enthusiastic passion for our athletic programs. I can tell there is an appetite tocontinue the success of Marauder Athletics and I am looking forward to championing our student-athletes, supporting our fantastic coaches, and building community support for the blue and white. I can't wait to cheer loudly from the sidelines while helping to be a partner within the community to build our student-athletes' full Maclay experience.”

Locasto has been at Peddie School, a 9th-12th grade college preparatory boarding and day school in NewJersey, since 2020, where she has served as Associate Athletic Director and Director of Aquatics whilecoaching Girls Lacrosse and working as a Dorm Supervisor and Academic Advisor. Prior to her time atPeddie, she was at a 6th-12th grade independent college preparatory school, Morristown Beard Schoolfor 11 years. There she worked as a wellness teacher, academic advisor, and assistant registrar, coachedfour sports and directed the aquatics program. Meredith has an undergraduate degree from the Collegeof New Jersey where she was a member of the Division III National Championship Women’s Lacrosseteam and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas.

Southern Teachers conducted the national search for the Athletic Director position. Maclay would liketo thank the many faculty, coaches, parents, and students who participated in the process.

Meredith, her husband Steven, and son Parker who is a rising 6th grader, will be joining the MaclayCommunity July 1. She is an avid runner and enjoys baking and playing a little golf with her son Parker.Locasto will be just the fifth athletic director to lead the Marauders in its 56-year history."
