Mack Brown doubles-down on tough UNC schedule

Just over a month ago the ACC released the 2023 football schedule for each program and UNC football head coach Mack Brown wasn’t happy with how it unfolded for the Tar Heels.

The 2023 season will be the first year without divisions, and thus, the two teams with the highest conference winning percentage will be the teams repressing the ACC in the Championship Game.

On Wednesday, Brown doubled-down with his comments.

“Nobody’s got a harder finish,” Brown said. “We’ve got three rival games. So I didn’t think the ACC office did us any favors.”

UNC finishes with three difficult games, including two games on the road to finish the season. The last three weeks include: vs Duke, at Clemson and at NC State.

Looking earlier in the season and Brown voiced his displeasure again that the Tar Heels will have a home game during the weekend of North Carolina’s fall break, saying ‘that’s totally unfair to our students’.

That is a weekend matchup against Virginia on October 21.

North Carolina is looking to bounce back from a difficult ending to the 2022 season as it closed out the year on a four-game losing streak.

The Tar Heels had started the season of 9-1 before ending 9-5 and with a loss in the Holiday Bowl to Oregon. North Carolina did win the ACC Coastal Division, however, before losing to Clemson in the ACC Championship game.

UNC kicks off spring camp on March 5.
