LSU Tigers Snapshot Profile: No. 55 Kimo Makane’ole

Going into the 2022 football season, LSU Wire will be looking at each player listed on the Tigers’ roster.

Over the preseason, each profile will cover where the player is from, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for Brian Kelly this season.

We’ll be taking a look at a depth piece along the offensive line in Niceville, Florida, product Kimo Makane'ole, a former three-star recruit who redshirted his first season on campus in 2021 without appearing in any games. With the Tigers replacing four of five offensive line starters, he could see a rise on the depth chart.

Depth Chart Overview

Makane’ole excelled with a strong Niceville program as a high school player, and he was ranked as a top 500 player nationally with a number of Power Five offers. He spent much of his recruitment committed to Florida State, but he decommitted on Dec. 28, 2020 and flipped to LSU four days later on Jan. 1.

A versatile player who could see action at either guard or tackle for the Tigers, he didn’t appear in a game and redshirted in 2021. Despite the turnover along the offensive line, the two-deep is now generally taking shape, and Makane’ole could find himself on the wrong side of that group.

Still, he could see the field in a reserve role as he continues to develop.
