LSU softball’s Taylor Pleasants named to U.S. Women’s National Team for Japan All-Star Series

OKLAHOMA CITY – Taylor Pleasants will join the U.S. Women’s National Team (WNT) 16-player roster to compete in the 2023 Japan All-Star Series held Aug. 4-7 announced Thursday morning.

Team USA will compete against world-ranked No. 2 Japan in a three-game series held across three cities in Japan – Fukushima (Azuma Stadium – Tokyo Olympic Games softball venue), Iwakuni (Kizuma Stadium – host of WNT pre-Olympic training) and Yokohama (Yokohama Stadium – Tokyo Olympic Games softball venue).

The 2023 Japan All-Star roster is represented by 12 NCAA Division I universities and five athletic conferences (AAC-1, ACC-1, Big 12-4, Pac-12- 5, SEC-5). The Japan All-Star Series squad is the second WNT roster scheduled to compete during the 2023 season in addition to the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) World Cup roster that features LSU alumnae Aliyah Andrews and Sahvanna Jaquish in Dublin, Ireland July 11-15.

Athletes were selected by the WNT Selection Committee based on previous and ongoing evaluations at the collegiate and professional levels as well as USA Softball National Team events, trials and camps.
