LSU baseball score vs. South Carolina: Live updates from the SEC Tournament

HOOVER, Ala. – LSU baseball will begin its postseason journey this week, as the No. 3 seed Tigers face No. 6 seed South Carolina in the second round of the SEC Tournament on Wednesday (9:30 a.m., SEC Network).

The Tigers (42-13, 19-10 SEC) enter the SEC Tournament after defeating Georgia twice in their three-game series with the Bulldogs last weekend.

To face LSU, South Carolina also beat No. 11 seed Georgia in the first round of the SEC Tournament on Tuesday, 9-0.

LSU will start Thatcher Hurd against the Gamecocks. Hurd, who has been the Tigers' Sunday starter for the middle portion of the season, has been a go-to reliever for coach Jay Johnson out of the bullpen in recent weeks.

Hurd had an excellent outing in relief last Thursday, surrendering just two earned runs in five innings pitched against Georgia.

South Carolina is starting Eli Jones, who has 57 strikeouts in 46⅓ innings pitched and a 3.88 ERA.

LSU and South Carolina split their shortened two games series during the regular season. The Gamecocks dominated Game 1 with a 13-5 win while LSU came back to win Game 2, 8-7. Game 3 was canceled due to rain.
