1. Putnam West (15-1)

The Patriots took a surprise loss to Edmond Santa Fe on Tuesday night, but they still have a resume that separates them from their competitors. Most notably, Putnam West snapped Edmond North’s 47-game win streak with a 47-45 victory in the Jenks-Union Invitational finals. No one else has defeated the Huskies since February 2022. OU signee Caya Smith leads the Patriots in the paint and knows how to get to the free-throw line.

2. Edmond North (12-1)

The defending state champions have just one blemish on their resume, and they bounced back with a 69-64 victory Tuesday at Edmond Memorial. Although Laci Steele and Elle Papahronis graduated, the Huskies retained several stars who know what it takes to defend the Class 6A crown. Allison Heathcock, KK Peeler and Kate Melton are embracing their veteran roles.

3. Bethany (12-4)

One season after making history with a state title, Bethany coach Eric Sailer packed his team’s schedule with tough out-of-state tournaments. The Class 4A Bronchos' only in-state loss was to Edmond North, and that game was close. OU signee Zya Vann and OU commit Keziah Lofton lead a tenacious squad that isn’t afraid to face any level of competition.

4. Edmond Memorial (12-3)

Class 6A Edmond Memorial has received a considerable boost this season with a healthy Janiyah Williams in the starting lineup. The junior guard scored 32 points against Edmond North, and fellow junior Avery Hjelmstad followed with 19. The Bulldogs aren’t the tallest team around, but they have skill.

5. Choctaw (15-0)

You can’t argue with an undefeated record, but there’s still a bit of mystery surrounding Choctaw. The Class 6A Yellowjackets have faced some solid east-side opponents: Owasso, Broken Arrow and Bixby. But we have yet to see how they would contend with Putnam West and the Edmond dynamos. Kate Davis is having a phenomenal senior year.

6. El Reno (16-0)

Class 5A El Reno has exceptional balance. Lilly Thomas and Pauline Black-Harmon give the team an outstanding presence in the paint, while guards Raegan Bugaj and Emmary Elizondo can efficiently make shots from the perimeter. El Reno is chasing its first state title in program history, so this team is highly motivated.

7. Putnam North (13-3)

Class 6A Putnam North has greatly improved since last season. All of the Panthers’ losses have occurred against teams ranked higher on this list. The Panthers present some unpredictability for defenses because their leading scorers fluctuate, so opponents are in trouble if they try to zero in on one star. Nykaiya Dillard, Alaysia Burrough, Nini Geretta and Nevaeh Sanchez are all players to watch.

Up next: Friday vs. Mustang

8. Carl Albert (13-4)

The Class 5A Titans are young but talented. Their sophomore-laden group recently finished as the Titan Classic runner-up, and solid defense is their cornerstone. North Texas softball signee Ausha Moore provides senior leadership.

Up next: Tuesday at Elgin

9. Mustang (13-4)

The Class 6A Broncos won the Sweet Pea Invitational during the past weekend. Cherish Haywood is a stellar scorer and rebounder, while Mya Alston and Parker Simonsen are also key contributors.

10. Washington (16-1)

The Warriors compete in Class 3A, but they have proven they can contend with larger schools, losing to Carl Albert by just a two-point margin after defeating McAlester. When it comes to 3A competition, Washington has dominated. Kelby Beller’s return from injury has given the Warriors an extra spark.

Classen SAS (13-6): The Comets won the Jones Kiwanis Invitational during the past weekend.

Dale (19-1): The Class 2A Pirates had a flying start to the season, but they fell to Millwood on Tuesday.

Douglass (12-3): With new coach Latesha Woods and many new players, Douglass has vastly improved since last season.

Edmond Santa Fe (10-4): The Wolves were staying under the radar, but an upset of Putnam West is changing that.

Millwood (7-11): Don’t overlook Millwood because of the losing record. The Class 3A Falcons have stacked their schedule with Class 6A competition, and they have a marquee win against Dale.
